Review Engagements
When approval mode is enabled, you can review AI-generated messages before they're sent. This guide covers how to find pending engagements, review them effectively, and manage the approval workflow.
Why Review Engagements?
Reviewing engagements lets you:
- Ensure quality: Verify messages meet your standards
- Fine-tune messaging: Edit messages before sending
- Learn the AI: Understand how your guidance is being interpreted
- Catch issues: Spot any messages that miss the mark
We recommend enabling approval mode for new campaigns. Once you're confident in the message quality, you can disable it for efficiency.

What to Look For
When reviewing, check:
| Element | What to Verify |
|---|---|
| Opening/Icebreaker | Is it relevant and accurate? |
| Message Body | Does it follow your guidance? |
| Tone | Does it match your brand voice? |
| Call-to-Action | Is it clear and appropriate? |
| Length | Is it concise enough? |
| Accuracy | Are any facts or claims correct? |
Taking Action
You have three options for each pending engagement:
Approve
Send the message as-is. It will be delivered according to the sequence schedule.
Edit
Modify the message before approving. Great for fine-tuning.
Decline
Don't send this message. The sequence will skip to the next step.
Approving a Message
If the message looks good:
- Review the content
- Click Approve
- The message moves to "Pending Delivery" and will be sent at the scheduled time
Editing Before Approving
To modify a message:
Click the Edit button on the message preview.
Modify the subject line, body, or any part of the message.
Review your changes in the preview pane.
Click Save & Approve to queue the edited message.
Common edits:
- Adjusting the opening line
- Tweaking the call-to-action
- Fixing minor phrasing
- Adding or removing specific details
If you find yourself making the same edits repeatedly, update your messaging guidance instead. This will improve future AI-generated messages.
Declining a Message
If a message shouldn't be sent:
- Click Decline
- Optionally add a reason (for your records)
- The engagement is marked as declined
What happens after declining:
- The message is not sent
- The lead's sequence continues to the next step
- The lead doesn't see anything from this step
When to decline:
- Message is completely off-topic
- Lead circumstances have changed
- You've already engaged with them outside the system
Bulk Review
When you have many pending engagements, you can review them efficiently:
Quick Approve
For messages that look good at a glance:
- Scan the message preview
- Click the quick ✓ approve button
- Move to the next message
Batch Actions
Select multiple engagements to approve or decline in bulk:
- Check the boxes next to engagements
- Click Approve Selected or Decline Selected
- Confirm the action
Review carefully before bulk approving. It's worth spending a few seconds on each message to ensure quality.
Engagement History
Viewing Sent Engagements
To see what's already been sent:
- Go to Engagements
- Filter by Sent status
- Click any engagement to see the full details
Tracking Opens and Clicks
For sent emails, you can see:
- Whether the email was opened
- If any links were clicked
- When engagement occurred
Handling Replies
When a lead replies to your outreach:
- Notification: You're alerted immediately
- Status Update: The engagement shows "Got Reply"
- Sequence Pause: The lead's sequence pauses automatically
Viewing Replies
To see replies:
- Go to Engagements
- Filter by Got Reply
- Click to see the reply content and context
Replies come to your actual email inbox or LinkedIn messages. YESS captures them for tracking but doesn't intercept your conversations.
Responding to Replies
When a lead replies:
- Review their message and sentiment
- Respond personally through your email/LinkedIn
- Continue the conversation as you normally would
The lead's sequence remains paused—they won't receive more automated messages while you're engaging personally.
Approval Workflow Settings
Enabling/Disabling Approval
Approval mode is set per campaign:
- Go to campaign settings
- Find Require Manual Approval
- Toggle on or off
When to use approval mode:
- New campaigns (to verify AI quality)
- High-value target accounts
- Sensitive industries or topics
When to skip approval:
- Established campaigns with proven messaging
- High-volume outreach where you trust the AI
- Follow-up messages in existing sequences
Best Practices
Review Promptly
Check pending approvals daily. Delayed approvals can disrupt your sequence timing.
Note Patterns
If you keep making the same edits, update your messaging guidance instead.
Trust the Process
Once you've verified AI quality over many messages, consider disabling approval for efficiency.
Check Personalization
Focus on whether personalization is relevant and accurate—this is where AI shines or misses.
